06 / CHANGELOG

RIDA is a format
that keeps moving.

The current website covers Python 2.0.2 and Node.js 2.0.1. This timeline keeps the important format and behavior changes visible instead of hiding them in marketing copy.

2.0.2Current Python release

Encryption in one install

  • pip install rida-format now installs encryption support automatically.
  • No separate encryption extra is needed; cryptography is a required dependency.
  • The data format and encryption algorithm are unchanged.
2.0.1Current Node.js release

Practical application guides

  • Added detailed product catalogue and multilingual help-centre examples.
  • Expanded encrypted CDN delivery guidance and server-only key handling.
  • Clarified whole-field reads, nested values and multi-field requests.
2.0.0Previous

Aligned release numbering

  • Aligned Python and Node.js package version numbers.
  • Expanded the Node.js usage guide; Python implementation remained unchanged.
0.3.3Previous

One build process, clearer identities

  • Build and scan now process one JSON record at a time; memory-mode selection was removed.
  • Several JSON groups can be combined after comparing shared and union schemas.
  • Records are identified by tree position, with an optional Map.json for human folder names.
  • Raw deflate replaces the gzip wrapper, saving 18 bytes per value.
  • Progress shows stage, count, elapsed time, estimate and rate.
  • Breaking change: rebuild datasets written by 0.3.2 or earlier.
0.3.2Previous

Catalog encryption and cache

  • Added AES-256-GCM catalog encryption and separate key files.
  • Added a pre-computed catalog cache for remote reads.
  • Added --key, --encrypt, --timeout, --version and encryption availability checks.
  • Expanded tests around real range servers, wrong keys and cache behavior.
0.3.1Previous

Documentation release

  • Made README examples generic instead of centering one dataset.
  • Clarified that reference-dataset benchmark figures are measurements, not a special case.
0.3.0Previous

More ways to read

  • Added get_many() and get_record() with nearby-range merging.
  • Added the fields command and open_reader() for local paths or HTTP URLs.
  • Removed reader_url: the library does not pretend to know an end-user app.
